Flood disaster: 5 dead, 8 hospitalised, several houses destroyed at Miga LGA

Over 407 people became stranded as flood washed away their houses in Koya village of Miga Local Government last night.

The chairman of the council, Alhaji Admu Sarki Miga, confirmed the story through the staff officer of the local goverment, Alh Dauda Bala.

Miga explained that over 400 houses were destroyed by rain, adding that the families are now taking refuge at public building as around 1674 persons have been rended homeless.

According to him, all the houses demolished by flood in which over 200 house completely destroyed and over 400 people are currently displaced.

At the same time, flood also destroyed over 110 houses in Nasarawa village of Miga local government and about 180 became homeless.

The chairman further explained that over 210 houses ware distroyed in Hantsu town and over 725 person taking cover at public building.

Also in Sabon Garin Takanebu village, the council has confirmed that over 1096 person registered as flood victims and 2335 rooms were destroyed.

He added that in Tsakuwawa village, over 250 rooms collapsed, and over 493 people became flood victims, adding that in Yanduna village, 444 rooms were affected and 348 persons sacked from their homes.

The chairman confirmed that 1884 rooms were completely destroyed in Zarailu town, and no fewer than 483 people are taking shelter in public building. He said one woman sustained injuries and one person died as building collapsed in the area.

The chairman confirmed that 935 rooms were also destroyed by flood in Garbo village and 359 people displaced.

He added that in Sansa I ward, over 1044 rooms were destroyed and over 1248 persons who were displaced are now sleeping in primary schools and other public buildings.

The chairman added that a canoe mishap in Sansa river also killed two persons while seven others have been hospitalised.
