FIRS commissions new amenities at OAUTHC

The Federal Inland Revenue Service through a Corporate Social Responsibility Project has officially commissioned the New Amenity Ward at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Wesley Guild Hospital Unit, Ilesa.

The Project which was facilitated by Mr Mathew Gbonjubola, the Coordinating Director of the Compliance and Enforcement Group at the FIRS, the event took place at Wesley Guild Hospital Unit, Ilesa.

The Executive Chairman of the FIRS, Dr Zacch Adedeji, thanked God for the grace given and commended the facilitator and others that contributed to the success of the building of the amenity ward.

Adedeji said that the commissioning of the healthcare facilities is a testament in a FIRS on welfaring commitment in corporate social responsibility and well being of the nation,

He added that access to quality healthcare service of the generality is a fundamental right of the citizens which will contribute in a great measure to the provincial medical services of every Nigerians.

According to him, this Illustrate the renewal of all and thereby ensuring that no one is left behind as far as access to quality healthcare is concerned.

The FIRS Chairman expressed that the contract of amenity ward was awarded in Dec 2021 as one of number carefully selected initiative of FIRS service to impact on people’s health from different region across the nation to show that they truly paid their tax.

He maintained that the resources generating by FIRS is being used for the growth and development of Nigerians.

Adedeji, who was represented by Mr Shettimah Tawadi, the Coordinating Director of Special Duties, FIRS, charged all citizens including Corporate body to play their pivotal role to be a good citizens.

He charged the Nigerians to comply with the tax law for it’s their Civic duty to do, so that the government on their own impact, will deliver on their mandate adequately.

According to him, allover the world, taxation is the main source of generating revenue and Nigeria cannot be exceptional, urged generality to play their part to support the government and leadership for general good of democracy.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), OaUTHC, Prof. John Okeniyi, applauded FIRS and the facilitator of the project for dim it fit to provide the best amenities back to the complex.

Okeniyi said that the impact of the ward will be monumental, for this is 112-year-old hospital unit and one of five that constitutes OAUTHC, Ife/Ijesa senatorial zone is cardinal to Osun State is there.

The CMD explained that the ward has 35 new bed to provide service, the finest purpose built to provide good amenities services that will benefit people’s health.

He confirmed that the facilitator is one out of thousand that treated in the hospital and came back to show appreciation.

Okeniyi said that there’s nothing too small nor too big to donate for the hospital especially where nurses are being trained, charged individuals, groups, corporate body to emulate the kind good gesture.

The CMD warned against killing, stealing and destruction of private or government properties, but to maintain the facilities effectively well.

He commended the government for trying his best in health sector, clamoured for more doctors, nurses, power house, engineers, security, other hutility and security.

The Facilitator, Mr Mathew Gbonjubola, the Coordinating Director of the Compliance & Enforcement Group at the FIRS, thanked the hospital for stood behind his late mother that buried 10 out of 12 children.

Gbonjubola said that this hospital was established by prayer which led to counselled his mother to gave birth to him and care for him till, saying that this geared him to facilitator the project.

Our Correspondent reports that the ward will name in memory of Late Mrs Dolapo Abigail Gbonjubola.
