Osun State Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode’s property worth millions of naira was on Monday razed by a night inferno in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Osun State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola in a statement on Monday confirmed the incident.
Opalola stated that the fire started around 6pm and lasted for about 2 hours before being put off by firefighters.
“No life was lost nor injury sustained during the inferno” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police thanked all who have contributed in one way or the other to ensure the fire is put off as the family is still counting their loss.
“The Osun State Police Command appreciates the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, CP Eward Ajogun Awolowo, Area Commander Abeokuta metropolis and everyone for sympathizing with the Commissioner of Police.
“The Officers and men of Osun State Police Command commiserate with the CP and the entire family and described the incident as unfortunate and pathetic. It is the Command prayer and hope that the Almighty God replenishes the loss in hundred folds.” she stated.
Meanwhile, Osun State Government on Monday sympathised with the State’s Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode over the fire outbreak that razed his building in the early hours of Monday.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Monday by the Commissioner For Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode.
Egbemode described the fire incident as very unfortunate and saddening, while thanking God that no life was lost through the inferno which destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
The statement read in part, “On behalf of the Government and the good people of the State, I sympathize with our own Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode on this very unfortunate incident, we are indeed pained by it.
“But we must also thank God that no life was lost in the incident which lasted for about two hours. We know that God who is the provider of all things will surely return everything lost in the inferno in double fold,” the Commissioner stated.
