Fire guts Oja-Oba market in Osun

Property worth millions of naira was destroyed by an overnight Inferno that hit Oja-Oba market, Ikirun, Osun State.

The fire, it was gathered, started around 11 pm on Friday.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

It was gathered that the officials of the Nigeria Fire Service in Ikirun, could not reach the scene at the time of the inferno.

The spokesperson of the fire service in the state, Adijat Basiri, disclosed that their operatives could not reach the scene due to a “tense security situation”.

She explained that “the office tried to seek for Police to lead our men but we couldn’t secure police backup.

“There is an order for us not to go where there is tense without security backup and they always attack our men and appliance in Ikirun.

“Our men stepped down when they couldn’t get security backup. Because we can’t be recording casualties.”
