Fire guts Federal Secretariat building in Abuja

A part of the Federal Secretariat building in Abuja was razed by fire on Wednesday evening.

Newsmen gathered that by Thursday morning, more than a dozen cars were found to have been consumed.

The cause of the inferno, which blazed at the Ministry of Education section, is yet to be ascertained.

The government department is located at the Three Arms Zone and accommodates several offices.

There have been at least five other fire incidents at key government agencies in the last two years.

In October 2019, flames engulfed the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) headquarters in Abuja.

A portion of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was burnt on April 17, 2020.

Just over one week earlier, some workplaces at the Accountant General’s office got burnt.

Days before the incident, a similar outbreak occurred at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The causes of the fires were never made public.
