The suspension was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by Folasade Boriowo of the Federal Ministry of Education.
A viral video revealed the teacher involved in an inappropriate video conversation with the former student, which the ministry condemned as “completely unacceptable.”
In its response, the Ministry stated that, “The staff member in question has been suspended pending a thorough investigation and possible disciplinary measures. The individual has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution, and has been prohibited from entering or accessing the school premises.”
The ministry assured the public that it would conduct a thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable. It also reiterated its firm stance against any form of illegal and immoral conduct that endangers the safety and dignity of students.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and protective learning environment for all students and pledged to continue working with the relevant authorities to ensure justice is served. The Ministry also called on parents and guardians to collaborate in tackling such incidents.
Furthermore, the Ministry urged anyone with information or evidence regarding this case, or similar incidents, to report it to the appropriate authorities.
Through swift action, the Ministry aims to send a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated, reinforcing the importance of prioritising the safety and well-being of students.
