FG partners with UNDP to provide paid internships for 3,000 Nigerians

The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has announced a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme to provide paid internships for 3,000 Nigerians.

The Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani made this known via his official social media handles.

Recall that the Telecom infrastructure giant, IHS Towers had also earlier pledged a partnership support of N1billion for the three million technical talent (3MTT) project  of the Federal Government.

The Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijan expressed gratitude for the first partnership of the Ministry’s strategic blueprint project.

He noted that the funds would help facilitate the learning communities across the 36 States and the FCT and also pay the salaries of the facilitators of the project in each community in the next three years.

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme is a part of the Renewed Hope agenda aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power the digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.

The first phase of the programme, executed in collaboration with NITDA, will involve multiple stakeholders including fellows, training providers, partners and placement organisations.

In line with the Ministry’s 1%-10%-100% implementation approach, this first phase will aim to train and place 30,000 technical talents, representing 1 percent of the overall target. It will be executed based on the framework co-created with key stakeholders across government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies and the private sector.

The programmes that will be offered in the first phase include: Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis & Visualisation,Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing and Dev Ops.
