FG increases passport fees to N50,000, N100,000

The Federal Government has approved a fee increase for Nigerian passports, set to take effect on September 1, 2024. Kenneth Udo, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), disclosed this change in a statement posted on the NIS’s official X handle. The revised fees are part of an effort to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

Under the new fee structure, the cost for a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the fee for a 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity will increase from N70,000 to N100,000. Udo explained that this adjustment is intended to ensure the passport’s continued high standards.

The NIS acknowledged that the fee hike might cause some inconvenience to prospective applicants but reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
