FG begins implementation of 300% salary increase for judicial officers
The federal government has officially begun implementing a 300% salary increase for judicial officers across Nigeria, according to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
He made this announcement on Monday during the 12th Convocation ceremony of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).
Fagbemi emphasised that this significant pay raise is part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration efforts to enhance the judiciary’s functioning.
“I am again pleased to report that a major intervention of the Tinubu administration in the judiciary is the recent 300% upward review of the remuneration of judicial officers in Nigeria across board. To be true, I can confirm that the implementation of this has begun in earnest,” he stated.
In addition to the salary increment, Fagbemi revealed plans for a comprehensive review of Nigerian laws to better align them with the country’s evolving needs.
He stated, “This law review intervention will cut across all aspects of our social, economic, and political life.”
Fagbemi highlighted the urgency of the initiative, announcing that “we have assembled a team of legal luminaries to achieve this within a very limited timeframe.”
