Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq recently made a big push for the immediate rehabilitation of the old Moro Bridge, following his visit to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abdulrafiu Ajakaye and made available to journalists in Ilorin.
The statement said at a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works in Abuja Alhaji Babangida Hussaini, the Governor got assurances that the Federal Government has now approved the repair of the old bridge while approvals are awaited for contract variations on the ongoing construction of the new Moro Bridge.
The worn-out old Moro bridge was recently shut down for safety reasons.
The state government had appealed to the Federal Government to fix it urgently to ease human and vehicular traffic.
