This development is in line with the federal government’s efforts to increase access to higher education in Nigeria. Recently, the government invited qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2024/2025 Slovakia National Scholarship Program.
Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu has urged lawmakers to pass the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2024, aimed at enhancing the implementation of the Higher Education Student Loan Scheme. The bill seeks to address challenges related to the management structure of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELF), eligibility requirements, loan purpose, funding sources, and disbursement and repayment procedures.
