Federal allocations: Ogun LGAs get N3.6bn for October
A total of N3,623,372,562.10 was received as allocation due to the 20 Local Governments in Ogun State from the Federation Account, for the month of October, 2021.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape who disclosed this during the statutory Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at Conference Hall, Oba’s Complex, Abeokuta, said the money included shares of statutory allocation, VAT and exchange gain, adding that government would not relent in its efforts at ensuring due diligence and smooth running of local councils in the State.
According to him, the Local Government was able to accommodate payment of March and April 2020 loan and Cooperative deductions alongside the statutory first line charges, including primary school teachers’ salary, Local Government Staffs’ salary, Pensions, Traditional Council and other charges.
Afuape noted that the present administration would not relent in its efforts at prioritising the welfare of his workforce at both the state and the Local Government.
He reiterated government’s resolve to settle all outstanding deductions as soon as allocations and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) improves.
Earlier in his presentation, the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury, Mr. Michael Idowu, said the total sum of N4,321,014,664.00 was required to offset the first line charges for the month, leaving the councils with gross deficit of N697,642,101.90, as the sum of N620,3030,776.44 represents PAYE, contributory pension, five per cent bond on pension, cooperative and loans.
