FEC approves N2.578bn for FRSC operational vehicles
…As NECO gets N5.1bn to print sensitive materials
The Federal Executive Council ( FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, approved a total sum of N2,578,948,164:36 kobo only for the procurement of operational vehicles for the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC).
This is coming as Education also got approval for the National Examination Council (NECO) got the approval of N5,107,364,373:62kobo for the printing of sensitive and other materials.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina who disclosed the information, noted that contracts for the supply of the vehicles were awarded to Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited and Messers Mikano International Limited.
He said,“I will give details on approval given to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to procure operational vehicles. So, FRSC got approval to buy operational vehicles.
“One was given to Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited and then the second one was for a re-procurement of saloon cars in favour of Messrs Mikano International Limited. Everything came to N2,578,948,164:36 kobo only.
“Please note that the contracts were secured for locally based automobile. Dangote Peugeot is to supply within 30 days while Mikano International is to supply within 14 days.
“So for Dangote Peugeot, it is to supply 18 Landtrek pickups at N18,172,875 each totalling N145,383,000 and 90 at N20,889,999 each totalling N1,880,099,910.00. And then for Mikaino, it is to supply 20 number Nissan Almera Acenta at the cost of N12,255,000.00 each.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education also got approval for the National Examination Council (NECO) to print sensitive and necessary materials in the sum of N5,107,364,373:62k.
Also approved is a contract for the supply of 18 ambulances fitted with medical equipment to 18 unity schools.
The Minister of Education, Adamu who briefed State House Correspondents on the latest development, said, “We have more than 100 of them but for 18, we just decided to select three in each political zone.”
