The Honorable Minister, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has pledged to assist the Nigerian Legion to realise its proposed business ventures, especially in public transportation and agriculture, according to yesterday’s press release from the Chief Press Secretary (CPS), FCTA, Anthony Ogunleye.
The Minister made the promise after having been decorated on 10 November 2020 with the emblem of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration by the National Chairman, the Nigerian Legion, Brigadier General Adakole Jones, Akpa (Rtd).
In the brief ceremony which took place at the Minister’s office, other senior members of staff of the Administration were also decorated.
Reiterating the support of the FCTA for the success of the yearly event to celebrate Nigeria’s fallen heroes, Bello also assured his guests that members of the public and staff of the Administration will be encouraged to wear the emblem.
He said: “I assure you that the Administration will do what it has does yearly, work very closely with your team to ensure that the emblem is rightly distributed among our staff and also the general public and encourage wearing of the emblem. We will work together up till the final climax, by the Grace of God, on 15 January 2021.”
The Minister also commended members of the Legion for their dedication to duty, especially as supportive in the area of security
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Brigadier General Adakole Jones, Akpa (Rtd), expressed appreciation of the Legion to the FCTA for its previous support and solicited for assistance for the success of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration. He also commended the FCTA for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Territory.
Also present at the event were the Secretary General of the Nigerian Legion, Group Captain K.A. Ade (Rtd) the Director of Veteran Affairs, Defence Headquarters Maj. Gen. L.F Abdullahi, the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Malam Bashir Mai Bornu, the Director of Human Resources Management of the FCTA, Alh. Bashir Muhammed and the FCTA Director of Security Services, Mr. Adamu Gwary.
