The provost of Federal College of Education, Technical, Akoka, Lagos, Dr. Wahab Ademola Azeez disclosed that the college is now an affiliation to the University of Benin. He disclosed this at the epoch-making occasion of the 2020/2021 matriculation on Thursday August 26, in Edo state.
He congratulated all the matriculants of the 2020/2021 academic session, welcoming them into the college of greater opportunities and home of vocational and technical education in Nigeria.
He enjoined the matriculants to count themselves fortunate to have been admitted into the institution.
He maintained that “As can be found in all registered citadel of learning by the government, all our academic staffs and non- academic staff are well trained and qualified to pass unto you the required knowledge, training, skills and character needed to be certified as qualified vocational-technical teachers.
“It is the candid belief of administrators and handlers of the college that you will derive maximum benefits from various courses being offered in the college provided that your academic studies is pursued with expected focus, seriousness, vigor, commitment and perseverance.
While reeling out the population of the admitted students of each department, he commented on the lower population, noting that it was below the expectation of a well equipped institution like FCE, Technical Akoka, Lagos.
He informed the congregation that the college is equally affiliated to the University of Benin, Benin city, Edo state which has empowered the college through the National University Commission ( NUC) to run courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Arts and Science, and he implored the students to endeavor to continue immediately after their NCE program in the college.
He said “The College has instituted a prize for the best student in the use of college library as it is well equipped with modern facilities with good collection of books, journals, e-library, VSAT facility for internet services which can be explored to the maximum advantage of studies.
