FCE, Akoka celebrates Dr Kunle Filani on 65th birthday, retirement

The Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka last Thursday honoured a scholar, mentor and model, Dr. Kunle Filani for his 65th birthday and retirement lecture.
The event which took place at the main campus in Paul Alabi Muiltipurpose hall had in attendance lettered personalities, provost, lecturers, students, alumni, professors, directors, artist, colleagues, family, friends and well wishers.
The provost of the Federal College of Education, Dr. Wahab Azeez expressed his joy for being present to celebrate a Former Deputy Provost, whom he described as an amazing teacher and a legendary icon in Artistry.
Dr. Wahab stated the celebrant’s position of relevance in his discipline and far beyond could be seen in the multiple collaboration of sponsors present at the event.
“Dr. Filani is a teacher of teachers, and a great artist, a father, uncle and a teacher. If you see the fliers given to you, you would notice there are numerous sponsors of this event present to celebrate him, as we just partnered with them who all came from far and beyond to celebrate our Daddy.”
He appreciated the presence of the Director of Redeemers University and the National Head of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) at the event.
During his lecture, a PHD holder of Fine and Applied Art from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Babaseyinde Ademuleya, said the celebrant possesses two opposing characteristics, namely restlessness and patience.
He described him as a man of prayers, a selfless mentor who is hardworking, a great scholar, role model and an intellectual engager.
Babaseyinde concluded by saying, “an artist never retires.”
