Fayemi describes death of former Ekiti Commissioner as rude shock

Ekiti State Gover-nor, Kayode Fayemi has described the late  former Commissioner for Works and Special Duties in the State, Mr Ebenezer Alade, as a highly cerebral public servant and seasoned politician.

Fayemi, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, said the deceased contributed in no small measure to the development of the state.

According to him, his death has come as a rude shock and it is a great loss to our dear state.

The Governor noted that the late Alade was a patriotic Ekiti indigene, who rose by dint of hard work to become General Manager of the Water Corporation in the old Ondo State.

He noted that the deceased later served as Pioneer Head of Ekiti State Rural Electricity Board at the inception of the state.

Fayemi said the UNILAG and University of Waterloo-trained Civil Engineer was a good sportsman who had influence and network across different fields of endeavour and served on the board of Nigerian Football Association (NFA).

He added that the Ado-Ekiti born Alade lived a life worthy of emulation defined by service to the people.

“The late Eben Alade, no doubt, played a prominent role in the development of Ekiti State, both as one of the top civil servants who helped stabilize Ekiti State as Head of the State Electricity Board.

He was also a politician, who served under Otunba Niyi Adebayo between 1999 and 2003.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with the family of the deceased.’’

The Governor prayed God to rest the soul of the departed statesman and grant the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
