Fashion statement: Looks of six iconic women

It’s the Month of International Women’s day and it’s been quite an uplifting and revealing one; from the transforming and eye-opening interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry by Opera Winfrey, to the appointment of Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela as the first Female and African Director General of the World Trade Organization, to the revolutionary beginning of a social media #breaktheinequality and #stoppatriarchy inclined trend, tagged |choosetochallenge|and so much more. In the spirit of acknowledging the month of Female celebration, today’s piece is dedicated to six amongst thousands of pace-setting females: their works and personal choice of clothing while taking on the world. In no symbolic order:
Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela: She is a Nigerian American Ecnomist and international development expert, recently assigned as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization: Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela is the first Female and African to hold this office. Popularly known for her signature choice of the African Print made into a simple long blouse with a comfortable looking mermaid like skirt and a signature head gear with minimal classy looking jewelry. Her sense of style can be described as patriotic (as no record has been made of her in any English or “formal” attire), conservative, status appropriate and finance friendly.
Meghan Markle: Is an American member of the British Royal Family and former Actress. She is known for her role as Racheal Zane in American legal drama, SUITS, for seven seasons. She also gained recognition for creating and realizing two fashion lines of clothing in the years 2015-2016. In 2020, she and her husband, Prince Harry, took an iconic step by publicly stepping down as Senior members of the Royal family and personally launched an American public Organization, Archwell incorporation that focuses on non-profit activities and creative media ventures. Meghan Markle’s personal choice of fashion can be described as personality and story inclined as her attires to events like interviews, public hearings and most recently, her interview with Opera Winfrey, are ageless, classy, fierce, monochrome inclined and modest.
MO Abudu: Media mogul, Philanthropist and former Human Resources Management Consultant. Popularly known for her role as the founder of Ebony Life Television and all it entails; She realized Ebony Life in 2006, Ebony life films in 2014, Ebony Life Place, a lifestyle and entertainment resort located in Victoria Island, in 2019 and most recently, Ebony Life Creative Academy. MO Abudu is a non-stop, ever evolving, ground breaking force to be reckoned with in Nigeria and the World at large. Her personal choice of fashion can be described as eccentric, classy, comfortable and modest, even while sticking to her signatory choice of bold and fitting red lipstick.
Serena Williams: She is a black American tennis player who has won twenty-three grand slam singles titles. As a baseline player, her games are usually built around taking immediate control of rallies with her powerful and consistent Service, Return serve and forceful ground strokes. Serena’s fashion statement is usually her tennis wear which varies from a beautiful sport top and tennis skirt to a sport play suit ensemble. She has also made other personal fashion statements wearing a typical stunning evening gown, a formal dress to the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel and even modelling sport inclined two pieces, formal and informal jumpsuits but the most intriguing part of Serena’s choice of fashion would have to be how she stays fashionable and true to her strong personality and physique.
Genevieve Nnaji: Nigerian actress, producer and director. She holds many prestigious awards including being honored as a member of the order of the Federal Republic of Nigerian Government, for her contributions in Nollywood. Genevieve’s style can be described as sophisticated, poise and sexy: a befitting combo for your every century career mogul, as she is. She is popularly seen at events on attires with colors like blue, nude, grey and every color shade on the subtle side.
Zendaya: is a young black American actress, Singer and Producer. She started her media career as a child model and backup dancer before gaining prominence for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom, shake it up(2010-2013) and continues to evolve tremendously. Zendaya can be described as fierce, norm breaking, super talented and a gorgeous young lady; this is not far represented in her choice of fashion wears. Many of Zendaya’s look are classy, young, most times with an edge of simplicity and divine elegance. Shuffling from suit looks to pencil dinner dresses and snow-white inspired ball gown worn to the Grammy Awards, Zendaya has a way of sticking to primary colors, in different shades and making heads turn in them.
