Fashion designer remanded in Kirikiri for allegedly raping neighbour’s toddler

A 30-year-old fashion designer, Idris Adams, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being accused of raping his neighbour’s two-year-old daughter.

Adams was arraigned before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the incident occurred on February 26.

The child was immediately taken to the hospital for a medical examination.

The court has ordered Adams to remain in custody pending further investigation and trial.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi refused to take Adam’s plea.

Osunsanmi adjourned the matter until March 28 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
