The Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, has commended all the stakeholders of the party for the reigning peace, unity, co-operation and amity among them across the length and breadth of the state, cautioning against any activity or endeavour capable of attracting avoidable schism into the party.

The state party chairman in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the state capital, today stated that it is important to constantly remind the APC political class in the state to continue to operate as an indivisible and impenetrable entity with a common goal of sustainability of Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in the state.

Famodun stated that feelers from some local government council areas and local council development areas in the state have shown that some stakeholders of the party have been prosecuting the agenda of their continuous support for Governor Oyetola in separate ways, saying that “there is a propensity for more abundance in unity and co-operation which is epitomized in a bunch of brooms.”

According to the state party chairman, “the joy of the subsisting political development in our party is that our party’s stakeholders have unconditional support for Governor Oyetola even in disagreement.

“Of all the places I have been to in Osun State, their sing-song is unalloyed support for the governor.

“Let no stakeholder of the party operates as a rebel over one excuse or the other because he is yet to benefit political appointment from this administration as Governor Oyetola is trying all his possible best within the available resources in the state to frontally address the issue to the satisfaction of the highest percentage of the stakeholders.

“In politics, everyone is needed to achieve the desired goal. Membership of a political party is about a common interest and nothing must be done by any member or group of members to jeopardise such interest.

“Any member of our party who professes to believe in the supremacy of our party and unconditional support for the administration of Governor Oyetola should desist from causing any division or disharmony in our party.

“We should be very careful in our conduct and utterances towards co-party members to avoid needless promotion of crisis within our party.

‘If there’s no crack on the wall, it would be pretty difficult for a lizard to explore such terrain.

“The opposition is earnestly waiting in the wing to cash in on any of such cracks within our party. I have solace in the fact that even in disagreement, the stakeholders of our party are showing their love and support for Governor Oyetola,” the chairman explained.

Famodun enjoined the party stakeholders to inspect themselves to improve their level of spirit of political tolerance.

In his words: “Our problems are not with the followership of our party but the leadership. It is necessary for the leadership of our party to unconditionally resolve to break a barrier of animosity to operate as an indivisible entity that cannot be penetrated by the opposition.”
