The family of one late Mrs. Aina Linda Abumen-Iluobe has petitioned the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbaudu, to come to their rescue with respect to the killing of Mrs. Iluobe and subsequent threat to their lives by her husband, Vindo Omon-Odion Iluobe.

In the petition on behalf of Emmanuella Oreshegun (daughter of the deceased woman), Barrister Stanley Amu, the Counsel said: “We have the specific instructions of Miss Emmanuella Oreshegun that her step- father (Vindo Omon-Odion Iluobe) has incessantly been beating the late wife (Aina Linda Abumen-Iluobe) at the slightest provocation as he has history of uncontrollable anger.

“Subsequently, on this fateful Sunday, 26th September, 2021, our client’s mother called her in the market where she was helping her to sell in her shop and informed her while crying that her husband (Vindo Omon-Odion Iluobe) mercilessly beat her after a minor argument of asking the husband to add the N5,000 he had hitherto given to her for food, consequent upon which the husband went to lock their gate and picked up a cudgel and started hitting her with the said cudgel severally all over her body and worse still, he also picked up a gas hose and used same to whip and popped her with it severally but that she shouted for help to no avail in that their doors and gate were locked by the husband.”

Going further, the petitioner alleged “that the next day, our client’s mother could not stand up from the bed nor do anything in that she was very weak and when it was obvious that she was really exhausted as a result of the injuries inflicted on her by her husband she had to go to the hospital with aid of our client where she was told she was six weeks pregnant.

“She eventually lost the pregnancy vide excessive bleeding as a result of the ferocious and uncontrollable anger of Vindo Omon-Odion Iluobe and at the end she gave up the ghost after several attempts to resuscitate her.”

In conclusion Oreshegun alleged that Vindo “who have all the while deliberately refused and neglected to visit the family of the late wife had started threatening the father-in-law that he was going to dispose off the body of the late wife and boasting that there is nothing that anybody can do to him.”
