The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has presented a cheque of N1 million as death benefit to the family of late corps member, Chikwado Ezururike in Abia.

While presenting the cheque, Mr Ayeniko condoled with the family and said, “We know that this amount cannot replace lost life, but it is a token to say we feel with you.”

He said that a NYSC official was also in Uyo to present the insurance benefits to other deceased families, who hailed from Akwa Ibom.

Mr Ezuruike, a graduate of History and International Diplomacy, hailed from Imo, but his family resides in Aba, Abia.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the family, Albert Ezuruike, the eldest child, thanked the NYSC and the Director-general for the kind gesture a

Denis Jingi, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Abia, commended the director-general for the speed in processing the benefit.

He said that the action was a demonstration of the director-general’s passion for corps members’ welfare.

He said that he and other NYSC officials had earlier paid a condolence visit to the family in Aba, following the director-general’s directive.

The police said almost all the suspects were from the same local government, possibly informing why they wickedly murdered the nonagenarian.

The group was reacting to an allegation of misappropriation of salary account levelled against the Kogi State Government by the EFCC.
