Fake prophet lands in court in Osun

A 32-year-old fake prop2het, Olajide Omolere has been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N1.1 million from a businessman to solve his “spiritual problems”.

The accused person was charged with three counts of conspiracy, theft and fraud.

The fake prophet allegedly committed the offence between November and December 2020.

The Police prosecutor, ASP John Idoko told the court that the accused person conspired with others still at large and defrauded a businessman, Fatai Sadiku, of N 1.1 million.

He alleged that the accused person collected the money to perform a “spiritual cleansing” for Sadiku’s business to grow.

The offence committed contravened Sections 422, 419, 516, and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol.11, laws of Osun, 2002.

The Defence counsel, Mr A.A. Adepoju prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in the most liberal term.

In her ruling, Magistrate Mary Awodele ordered that the accused person be remanded,  due to the magnitude of the offence.

Awodele who refused to admit the accused person to bail ordered the defence counsel to file a formal bail application

The case was adjourned till February 9, 2021.
