A 49-year- old factory worker, Dada Omolaji, who allegedly beat up his female co-tenant to pulp during an argument, has appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.
The police on Monday charged the defendant who resides at No 3, Ikosi Street, Ketu in Lagos, with conspiracy, assault and damage.
The defendant however, denied committing the offences when the charge was read to him.
The Police Prosecutor, Donjour Perezi said that the defendant allegedly beat up one miss Mojisola Atolagbe during an argument.
Perezi alleged that Omolaji dragged, punched and slapped Atolagbs many times; inflicting injuries on her ear, and in the process, willfully damaged her house burglary value yet unknown.
He said that the defendant committed the offence in August, 2020 at their residence.
The prosecution said the offense contravenes Sections 173 and 350 of the revised Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate O. M Ajayi granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Ajayi ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two years’ tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case to Feb. 26, for mention.
