Facebook friend, drugs, rapes 16-year old girl, threatens to upload nude picture on internet

A 25-year-old man, Ebenezer Adeshina, has been arrested at Owode Egbado in Yewa South local government by men of Ogun state police command for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl (name withheld) he had met on Facebook sometime in 2021.
Ebenezer is alleged to have drugged the girl, raped her after which he resorted to blackmail, threatening to release the nude pictures of the girl on social media except she gives him sum of N50,000.
According to statement from the Spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ebenezer was said to have been arrested on the 6th of May 2022, following a report lodged at Owode Egbado divisional headquarters by the victim.
She was quoted to have informed the police that she met the suspect on Facebook sometime in 2021, and they had been chatting since then.
The victim stated further that her phone got spoilt along the line, and she couldn’t chat with the suspect again but that in the month of March this year, the suspect called to know why she had stopped chatting with him and she told him that her phone was spoilt.
She narrated further that the suspect there and then asked her to come to his house to collect the sum of three thousand naira (N3,000) for the repair of the phone.
The girl disclosed further that on getting to where Ebenezer resides, he offered her drink which she took unknown to her that the drink had been laced with a sedative drug.
She revealed that immediately she took the drink, she became unconscious and the suspect used the opportunity to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her against her wish.
The victim alleged further that after raping her, in the state of her unconsciousness, the suspect took her nude pictures and started threatening to upload the pictures on social media if she didn’t pay him the sum of N50,000.
Upon the report, the DPO Owode Egbado division, CSP Muhammad S. Baba, was said to have detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and was eventually apprehended and confessed to the commission of the crime.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
