Expect alerts for unpaid salaries, pensions – Gov, Alia assures Benue workers

The Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has assured civil servants in the state that his administration is working round the clock to ensure that the backlog of salaries and pension arrears are cleared.

The governor, in his Democracy Day broadcast on Monday, urged the civil servants to be expectant of alerts beginning from the 25th of June as the government begins payment.

He acknowledged the plight of the workers who are being owed nearly one year salaries by his predecessors.

He said, “Good people of Benue, we are aware of the sufferings and hardships of our people, especially, civil servants and retirees due to non-payment of their salaries, pensions and gratuities.

“We call for your patience and understanding as we are working hard to address these problems. Indeed, as from the 25th of this month, civil servants should start expecting alerts for their payments”.

The governor also called on all Benue people not to despair but to keep hope alive, assuring that a new Benue is possible with all hands on deck.
