A dismissed military officer, Lance Corporal AliyuAdamu, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defrauding three job applicants.

According to SP Ahmed Wakili, the Spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, the suspect, who is originally from Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, was apprehended for several offences, including impersonation and cheating.

Wakili stated that Adamu is also facing charges of criminal misappropriation and criminal breach of trust in connection with the alleged fraud against the job applicants.

Wakili explained that officers from the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters made the arrest after receiving complaints from three victims.

The victims alleged that Adamu had collected N200,000 from them, promising to secure employment in the Nigerian Army.

Even after making the payment, the applicants were never called to the Nigerian Army Depot for training as he had promised.

When arrested, Adamu admitted that he had been discharged from the Nigerian Army a few months earlier due to a year-long absence without leave.

He also acknowledged that he used the money for personal expenses.

The Command urged the public to stay vigilant and report anyone offering fraudulent job opportunities.

They assured that Adamu would face prosecution once the investigation is complete.
