Ex-Anambra finance commissioner, Onojeme says he had no rift with Soludo

Former Anambra State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Ifeatu Onejeme, has refuted viral reports suggesting that he resigned from his position due to a disagreement with Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Governor Soludo formally received Mr. Onejeme’s resignation letter on Thursday, September 14, 2023, accompanied by commendations for the Commissioner’s contributions to his administration.

Despite the amicable departure, reports circulated indicating that the former Commissioner had conflicts with the Anambra State Governor, thus prompting his resignation.

To clarify the situation, Mr. Onejeme revealed that when he was initially appointed by former Governor Willie Obiano, he had intended to serve for only two years but ended up serving the state for the entire eight years of the Obiano administration. Upon Governor Soludo’s election, Mr. Onejeme recognized the need for further sacrifices to assist the new administration in settling and expressed this during his Executive Council valedictory speech.

Onejeme stated, “I worked to help many of my colleagues and counterparts settle in because I know the higher calling. When it was accomplished, I felt it was the right time to reunite with my family, who have been exceedingly happy since the announcement. After nine and a half years, I believe I have contributed my fair share.”

Dismissing the viral reports, Onejeme emphasized, “I have no conflicts with our Governor, who is a visionary and transformational leader. He is someone I deeply respect and consider a mentor. I had a positive relationship with the Governor, both professionally and personally. The media reports are inaccurate, and I’m even surprised to read such things.”

Onejeme pledged to remain a steadfast advocate of the Governor Soludo administration. “I am a passionate and committed ambassador of this administration. I strongly believe in the Solution Agenda, and people should not be misled by false information.”

“Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, our Governor, is straightforward. He outlines his plans and carries them out, even when they are unpopular. Some prefer empty promises, but he delivers on his commitments,” Onejeme concluded
