Equity capitalisation hits N60trn mark as investors gain N148bn

The equity capitalisation crossed the N60 trillion mark on Thursday as investors in the Nigerian stock market gained N147 billion at the close of the day’s trading.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like ACCESSCORP, ACADEMY, and UPDC amongst others on the trading floor today.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation rose to N60.1 trillion from N59.9 trillion recorded by the bourse on Wednesday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 99,189.95 from 98,944.42 recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 28 stocks advanced and 19 stocks declined, while 71 stocks remained unchanged in 9,211 deals.

ACCESS CORP, ACADEMY, and UPDC led other gainers with 9.95%, 9.79%, and 8.90% growth each in share prices to close at N22.10, N3.14, and N1.59 from the previous N20.10, N2.86 and N1.46 per share.

ROYALEX, INTBREW, and LIVESTOCK led other price decliners with 9.72%, 6.24%, and 6.06% decline each in share prices to close at N0.65, N4.06, and N3.10 from the previous N0.72, N4.33 and N3.30 per share.

On the volume index, UBA led trading with 58 million shares in 878 deals followed by JAPAUL GOLD which traded 35 million shares in 205 deals.

CUSTODIAN traded 33 million shares in 97 deals.

On the value index, ARADEL topped the securities traded stock worth N4.2 billion followed by SEPLAT which traded equities worth N3.4 billion.

Nigeria Breweries traded shares valued at N1.6 billion.
