Equities market investors gain 0.15% on Thursday

Transactions on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) continue to maintain upward performance due to the upturn of the investors as market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalised stocks which are Eternal Plc, Zenith Bank, Wapco and 29 other stocks.

At the close of trade yesterday, All Shares Index appreciated by 79.31 points representing an increase of 0.15 per cent to close trade at 52,917.76 index points from 52.838.45 index points it closed trade on Wednesday.

Similarly, the overall market capitalisation value gained N43 billion to close trade at N28.528 trillion from N28.485 trillion it closed trade for previous trading day

Market sentiments as measured by market breadth was positive as 32 stocks advanced against 23 stocks that declined.

In all, volume of share traded slightly increased by 2.1 per cent as investors bought and sold 426.018 million units valued by N5.697 billion which exchanged in 7,639 deals.

On the gainers table, Fidson was the highest price gainer which gained 9.95 per cent or 1.03 kobo increased to close trade at N11.38 per share, accompanied by Eternal plc which appreciated by 0.65 kobo increased to close trade at N7.19 per share.

Mcnichols rose by 9.91 per cent or 0.11 kobo increased to close trade at N1.22, Glaxosmith which recorded as the last fourth gainer grew by 9.87 per cent or 0.75 kobo increased to close trade at N8.35 per share and Wapco went up by 2.85 kobo representing 9.86 per cent increased to close trade at N31.75 per share

On the other hand, Academy Press led the decliners chart which depreciated by 0.18 kobo representing 9.73 per cent to close trade at N1.67 per share, followed by Chiplc and Linkage Assurance which dipped by 0.06 kobo or 9.68 and 8.70 per cent to close trade at N0.56 and N0.63 per share respectively.

Veritaskap  declined by 4.55 per cent to close trade at N0.21  per share Aiico insurance down by 0.03 kobo or 3.80 per cent to close trade at N0.76 per share

Transactions in the shares of Transcorp topped the table chart, Transcorp transacted 94.397 million shares valued at N122.724 million, and Accompany by Zenith Bank traded 24.481 million shares worth N590.080 million.

Wapco traded 19.233 million shares worth N601.948 million, while Abbeybds transacted 18.366 million shares valued at N24.389 million and Accesscorp traded 17.022 million shares valued at N163.578 million.

At the close of yesterday trading, Transcorp Plc was recorded as highest traded stock in terms  of volume, While Wapco was recorded as the highest gained in terms of value.
