Equities market drops by 0.52% against 0.16% gain recorded previously

Nigerian Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 234.60 basis points amid positive market breadth.

The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.52 per cent to close at 44,625.18 basis points as against 0.16 per cent gain recorded previously to close at 44,859.78 basis points at the end of the last trading session.

Specifically, the Market Capitalization value lost N127.78 billion.

The total volume traded advanced by 61.44 per cent to close at 150.97 million units valued at N1.55 billion and traded in 2,998 deals deals.

Mutual Benefit Assurance  was the most traded stock by volume with 47.85m units traded while AIRTEL AFRICA was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N573.53 million.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as eight (8) NGX sector index closed northward, five (5) closed southward while five (5) closed flat.

The NGXMERIVAL index advanced by 1.15 per cent to top the gainers chart while the NGC MAIN BOARD Index dipped by 1.09 per cent to top the losers’ chart.

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at 0.03x.

AIRTEL AFRICA tops the value’s chart with 36.90 per cent contribution and closely followed by MTNN and ZENITH BANK.

The market sentiments as measured by market breadth closed negative as Regalins Insurance led 11 gainers, while Linkages Assurance led 7 losers.

Regalins Insurance emerged as the highest gainer on the leader’s table with 8.70 per cent to close at N0.39 per share, followed by Sovereign Insurance which gained 8.00 per cent to close at N0.27 per share, while Japaulgold went up by 7.42 per cent to close at N0.29 per share.

Cornest appreciated by 7.41 per cent to close at N0.50 per share and UACN rose by 4.07 per cent to close at N8.95 per share.

However, Linkages Assurance emerged as the highest price loser with 9.30 per cent to close at N0.39 per share, followed by wapic Insurance which dipped by 8.33 per cent to close at N0.33 per share.

Aiico Insurance which recorded as the last third loser down by 3.45 per cent to close at N0.56 per share.

Airtel Africa depreciated by 2.83 per cent to close at N1,275 per share and Geregu power which recorded as the last fifth loser lost 1.72 per cent to close at N114 per share.

Transaction in the shares of Mutual Benefit Assurance topped the activities chart with 47.845 million share valued at 13.405 million, followed by Pharmadeko which transacted 22.636 million share worth 41.878 million, while Transcorp traded 8.978 million share valued at 9.589 million.

Fidelity Bank accounted 7.858 million share worth 30.050 million and Accesscorp traded 7.004 million share valued at 54.181 million.
