Equities market by N71bn

The stock market of the Nigerian exchange limited (NGX), yesterday closed marketing activities marginally on a positive note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All Share Index (ASI) is appreciated with 132.74 basis points.

Specifically, the NGX All Share Index (ASI) is appreciated by 132.74 basis points or 0.28 per cent to close at 47287.09 basis points from 47154.35 basis points it opened for trading. As the overall market capitalisation improves significantly with N71 billion to  close at N25.485trillion from N25. 413trillion it open for trading

However, market sentiments, as measured by market breadth was positive as 30 stocks advanced against 12 stocks that declined.

Since this year began stock market has advanced 4,436.31 base.

On the table chart, the total trade volume declined to 55 per cent from N336,305,180 millions units of yesterday trading and share valued at N5.860 which exchange in 5,248 deals.

On the gainers table, PRESCO emerged as the overall gainer which gained 10.00 per cent or  10.45 kobo increase to close at N114.95 per share, PHARMADEKO recorded as the second best gainer which rose by 9.89 per cent or 0.18 kobo increase to close at N2.00 per share, LINKASSURE follows as third best gainer which appreciated by 0.05 kobo representing 9.80 per cent increase to close at N0.56 per share, ROYAL EXCHANGE recorded as the fourth best gainer which grew by 0.13 kobo to represent 9.63 per cent increase to close at N1.48 per share and RTBRISCOE ,the fifth best gainer, improved by 8.93 per cent or 0.05 kobo increase to close at N0.61 per share.

On the losers table, ELLAHLAKE recorded as the first loser on the table chart which drop by 9.92 per cent or 0.38 kobo to close at N3.45 per share, MAYBAKER follows as the second best loser,which lost 0.54 kobo or 9.91 per cent to close at N4.91 per share,NEIMETH PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY down by 9.34 per cent or 0.17 kobo to close at N1.65 per share, NIGER INSURANCE declined by  8.70 per cent or 0.02 kobo to close at N0.21 per share and CUTIX dipped by 7.26 per cent or 0.18 kobo to close at N2.30 per share.

Transaction in the shares of FBN Holding (FBNH) topped the activity chart with 108.615 millions shares valued at N1.249 billion, Guarantee trust company follows with 54.134 millions shares worth N1.428 billion, while UNITED CAPITAL traded 25.292 millions shares valued worth N30.88 billion, ZENITH BANK traded 22.292 millions shares valued worth 595.015 millions.

CAVERTONNOFFSHORE support group transacted  14.946 millions shares worth N19.043 million.
