EPL: You’re in big trouble – Saunders tells Klopp over comment against referee

Former Liverpool man Dean Saunders has noted that the club’s boss, Jurgen Klopp has landed himself in ‘big trouble’ over his criticism of referee Paul Tierney.

The German had come hard on Tierney after Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Tottenham but a statement from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, PGMOL, supported the referee.

Klopp let it all out after the match, saying that Tierney has a problem with him and Liverpool due to some of the decisions that he makes.

For this particular game, Klopp questioned the referee’s decision to give a foul on Mohamed Salah [before Spurs netted their third goal].

He said that there appears to be a history between the referee and the club even though he could not exactly say what the problem might be

“How he looks at me, I don’t understand it. What he said to me when he gave me the yellow card is not okay,” Klopp claimed.

But in a statement, the PGMOL refuted Klopp’s claims, saying the match official conducted himself professionally through the game.

For this reason, Saunders believes that the German boss has landed himself in big trouble.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Saunders said: “Jurgen Klopp is convinced that Paul Tierney doesn’t like him.

“I don’t think it’s true and I think that once you start questioning the integrity of the ref you are in big trouble. He is in big trouble for what he said.”
