Former Liverpool central midfielder, Danny Murphy, has said that there is no way Rafael Benitez can turn around Everton’s fortunes to the satisfaction of the club’s fans this season.
Murphy said that the Spanish gaffer has nowhere left to go in his bid to get the club’s supporters convinced that he is the right man for the job.
Having been a Liverpool manager for many years, Everton fans may have never taken to Benitez in the first place over the fierce rivalry between the two Merseyside outfits.
Benitez is under serious pressure with Everton winning just one of their last 10 Premier League matches.
Murphy, who was a regular under Benitez at Anfield, believes the veteran manager’s job at Everton was always going to end in tears.
“He’s doomed,” Murphy said on White and Jordan.
“He doesn’t have the squad to pull it around.
“He can’t take Everton to a level he needs to for the Evertonians to be happy with that squad.
“When he first went in there I thought from a footballing perspective, what he’s done before, it looked like a decent appointment.
“I forgot, not living in the area and not thinking about it, about the Liverpool connection and the things he said about Everton, it was always destined to end in turmoil.”
