EPL: We’re not prepared for it – N’Golo Kante reacts as Roman Abramovich decides to sell Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante has reacted to news of Roman Abramovich confirming he’s selling Chelsea Football Club.

Kante admitted that the Chelsea squad have been caught off-guard by Abramovich’s shocking decision to sell the club, adding that they were not prepared for it.

Abramovich, who bought Chelsea for £140million back in 2003, saw the Blues collect 19 trophies, including every title available.

The Russian billionaire had released a statement on Wednesday revealing he has put Chelsea up for sale, ending his near 20-year ownership.

In the statement, Abramovich announced all net proceeds of the sale would be donated to the victims of Ukraine following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s orders to invade.

Speaking on the development, Kante told Sky Sports News: “It’s something we were not prepared for, it came quickly.

“The only thing we can do, because we don’t control these things, is to do the best that we have always done.

“Which means that playing football at the best possible level, for us, for the club, for the fans and see how the things are going and it’s the only thing we can control.”

Kante added, “Since I came here I have spent many great seasons, with the team, the managers and the fans.

“I hope we can carry on like this, keep winning, and that is the way I see the future.”
