EPL: Manchester United told to appoint Wayne Rooney as permanent manager
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent, has told Manchester United to appoint Derby County head coach, Wayne Rooney, as their next permanent manager.
Bent believes Rooney is the right man to replace Ralf Rangnick, who is currently the interim manager of Man United.
According to him, Rooney, a Man United legend, has done an incredible job at Derby County and should be considered for the Red Devils managerial job.
“If they are looking around and Wayne keeps Derby up and feel he’s the right man for the job [Manchester United], he understands the club, one of the best players in their history, their highest ever goal scorer,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“All young coaches have to start somewhere. Some get the luxury of starting at the very top, some have to work their way up the pyramid.
“If they come to Wayne Rooney and think he’s the right man for the job, and he feels ready to take it, then I don’t see a problem with that.”
Rooney is Manchester United’s all-time top scorer with 253 goals.
