EPL: Man City inserts £175m release clause in Haaland’s contract

Manchester City has inserted a £175 million release clause in Erling Haaland’s contract, which only applies to clubs outside of the Premier League, according to The Athletic.

Haaland moved to City from Borussia Dortmund this summer and earns £865,000-per-week at the Etihad.

His five-year deal includes a release clause, one which will alert Europe’s giants but also make it impossible for the player to join a Premier League rival.

The release clause comes into effect in the summer of 2024.

The clause then reduces near the end of his contract which expires in the summer of 2027.

By that time, the Norwegian who has already scored 20 goals in 13 games for City this season, will be 27 years old and should be in the prime of his career.
