EPL: I’m a genius – Man City coach, Pep Guardiola brags after beating Chelsea

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has branded himself a ‘genius’ following his side’s Premier League 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.

Guardiola watched as Man City defeated Chelsea in an away Premier League fixture, thanks to Riyad Mahrez’s second-half goal.

The result against Chelsea means Man City are now five points behind league leaders Arsenal on the log.

Prior to introducing Mahrez and Grealish, Guardiola had earlier sent on Rico Lewis and Manuel Akanji for Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo in order to liven his side up after a poor first half.

“I am a genius. Because after Everton, I was asked why I didn’t make a substitution until 81 minutes. I thought about that and made some,” Guardiola said at his post-match press conference.

“We could lose here [at Chelsea], but now we have a five-point gap. We have three less points to play for. It means a lot, but we have to prove ourselves so because it is normal to be in this position after four Premier Leagues in five years.”
