EPL: I regret returning to Man Utd – Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he regrets returning to Manchester United, according to Piers Morgan.

Morgan claims he had spoken to Ronaldo about the Premier League club in April.

The Portugal captain returned to Old Trafford just over a year ago to fanfare.

But the 37-year-old has endured a difficult second season under new manager Erik ten Hag.

In a column for The Times, Morgan wrote: “‘I can’t just keep ignoring what’s going on inside the club right now,” he told me. ‘It’s so amateur. No defined goal, no leadership, no organisation, just a desert of ideas. The future is very dark unless things change very fast.’

“I asked him if he regretted going back and he sighed: ‘Perhaps my heart spoke louder than reason.’”

Ronaldo followed up on this phone conversation with a 90-minute interview with Morgan last week.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner criticized the Red Devils’ hierarchy, manager Erik ten Hag, past and present team-mates.

United are currently in the process of tearing up Ronaldo’s contract.
