Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has insisted that he has not spoken to any player over the captain’s armband.
There have been reports this week, claiming that Rangnick met with current skipper, Harry Maguire and forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The German is claimed to have told Maguire to relinquish the armband for the time being, to take him out of the line of firing amid his poor performances.
However, speaking ahead of this weekend’s game against Leeds United, Rangnick confirmed Maguire will remain the leader of the team.
“I have never spoken with any player about a change of captaincy. This has never been an issue.
“It is me who decides who is captain. Harry Maguire is our captain and he will stay captain,” Rangnick said.
