PGMOL chief, Howard Webb, has named Michael Oliver as the best player among the Premier League’s referees.
One of the criticisms that have been targeted at match officials, is that they lack understanding of the game, because they have never played it at a high level.
But Webb insists there is plenty of talent among the referees.
“I can tell you it’s not John Brooks,” Webb told Malaysian outlet Stadium Astro when asked who the best player was among referees.
“All of them are kind of frustrated footballers to a certain extent. And I’m sure if they see this back they will all be expecting their name to be mentioned.
“But I think probably the one I would say who has got the most talent is Michael Oliver. He’ll love that. He’ll love hearing his name in that. But he’s a good footballer.”
