EPL: How Mourinho demanded Chelsea sack him

Former Chelsea chief executive, Peter Kenyon has opened up on how Jose Mourinho’s time at the club “unravelled” in 2007.

Mourinho left Stamford Bridge for the first time in his career in the 2007/2008 campaign.

His exit followed a 1-1 draw with Rosenborg in the Champions League.

Kenyon claims things changed for Mourinho following the arrival of Andriy Shevchenko and Avram Grant.

According to him, Mourinho pulled him aside and asked for a way out.

“We were going to the screening of the Chelsea movie.

“We were all at the health club beforehand, and Jose called me to one side and basically said, ‘Pete get me out of here’.

“That was Jose saying I had had enough. He had absolutely decided that it had come to the end of the road for him,” Kenyon told Paramount+.
