EPL: Glen Johnson advises Man Utd against signing Chelsea star

Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has advised Manchester United against signing Chelsea’s Timo Werner.

Johnson wants Man United to forget about signing Werner, adding that his move to Old Trafford would also be problematic for the German forward.

Man United have been linked with a shock move for Werner since Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager about a week ago.

Rangnick is believed to be an admirer of his compatriot, Werner.

Werner, 25, has endured a turbulent spell at Stamford Bridge since joining the club from RB Leipzig in 2020.

“I don’t think that is a good move for either party [Man Utd and Timo Werner] to be honest,” Johnson told BetttingOdds.

“I don’t think it’s a good move for Manchester United and I don’t think it’s a good move for Timo Werner.

“United seem to want to sign any player available in that position which is just madness.

“For me, they signed Jadon Sancho for a position they didn’t need and they’ve got [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Mason] Greenwood and [Edinson] Cavani. They clearly can’t play all these players and keep them all happy.

“For Timo Werner to thrive, then he has to be playing somewhere where he plays every week and at Manchester United, he’s not going to do that.”
