Chelsea’s potential new owners are close to finalizing a deal with Roman Abramovich to buy the west London club.
According to Turkish billionaire, Murshan Bayrak, he has a “90% chance” of completing a deal with Abramovich to buy Chelsea, adding that both parties will talk on Thursday and will notify the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
Abramovich had put Chelsea up for sale, insisting that the decision is in Chelsea’s ‘best interest’.
The Russian billionaire has decided to sell Chelsea after the threat of sanctions from the UK Government.
A number of names have been mentioned in relation to buying the Champions League holders, with offers rumoured to also be coming from the USA and Saudi Arabia.
“We have reached a certain stage,” Bayrak, the chairman of construction company AB Group, confirmed in an interview with Oda TV (via Sport Witness) on Tuesday.
“Our law and finance department will start talks with theirs in London on Thursday. That is the way it’s at this point. On Thursday, we will notify the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
“People are talking about it, we made some progress in the talks, and the world believes we have a 90% chance of completing the deal. Abramovich thinks the same.”
