EPL: Carragher urges Klopp’s successor to replace Diaz with new attacker

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has advised the upcoming Liverpool manager to consider buying a new left winger this summer to replace Luis Diaz.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool for a prospective £50 million fee from FC Porto in January 2022, has been subject to increasing speculation of a move to Barcelona with his father hinting at the player’s departure from Liverpool.

Carragher shared his opinion on The Overlap podcast and suggested the Reds should invest in a fresh left-winger to improve their team.

While he acknowledged Diaz’s skill, Carragher remarked that he was not “great” and Liverpool should take the opportunity to strengthen by purchasing a new attacker.

“I’d be really interested [to see what happens] in the summer. With Liverpool getting a new manager, would that be a position that [they] could look at in the summer? Wide left? I think Diaz is good, I don’t think he’s great,” Carragher said.

Diaz’s current contract with Liverpool will run out in June 2027.
