EPL: Angry Thomas Tuchel slams Chelsea stars after 1-1 draw with Everton
Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has slammed his players for failing to convert their chances during their Premier League clash against depleted Everton side on Thursday.
The Blues dropped crucial points in the league title race with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Everton.
Everton boss Rafa Benitez was under intense pressure going to Stamford Bridge on Thursday after a run of just one win in 10 matches.
But they produced a spirited performance to frustrate an out-of-sorts Chelsea.
Mason Mount scored his fourth goal in as many league games in the 70th minute but Everton responded almost immediately through Jarrad Branthwaite.
The result means Chelsea now trail top-of-the-table Manchester City by four points after 17 games.
And Tuchel was asked whether it was a frustrating night for Chelsea and he told BT Sport: “Yeah, of course.
“To give away another lead and if we see the effort that we bring in a match like this, the effort that we need to score one goal and the effort the opponent needs to score an equalizer, it’s hard to swallow.
“I think we missed big chances in the first half to get the result straight and in the second half we did not find the rhythm consistently and tried to bring on some energy from the bench, but it was obviously a bit hard.
“And we had the lead again and gave it away with one free-kick.
“Football is almost never like one reason things go this way, but one big reason is for sure the chances that we missed today.
“We could have been two or three up and were playing with fire.”
