Enugu: Police arrest two suspects for car theft, Recover stolen items

The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended two persons for their alleged involvement in car break-ins and theft within the Enugu metropolis.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, announced this in a statement, noting that police operatives also recovered stolen phones and the suspects’ operational vehicle.

Ndukwe stated that the operation was carried out by police officers from the New Haven Division on September 24, 2024, around 4 p.m.

According to him, the suspects, Abuchi Kenneth, 27, and Ifeanyi Odu, 29, were arrested for breaking into a car parked on Rangers Avenue, Enugu, and stealing a Samsung Galaxy and an Infinix smartphone.

“A preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects, who identified themselves as residents of Zuba, Abuja, and Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, discreetly broke into the parked car and stole the smartphones.

“Following a tip-off about the crime, police operatives swiftly pursued the suspects, intercepting and arresting them at Otigba Roundabout in Enugu.”

“The police operatives recovered the stolen smartphones and the suspects’ operational vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 614 CF. “The suspects will be arraigned in court shortly,” he added.
