Entrepreneurial programme capable of tackling unemployment, poverty – NDE

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disclosed that entrepreneurial training programme will assist in tackling unemployment, poverty, social vices, youth restiveness, prostitution and drug abuse in the country.

Its Director-General, Malam Abubakar Nuhu-Fikpo, said this on Monday while declaring one-week training programme opened for prospective entrepreneurs in Lokoja. Kogi.

The Director-General represented by the Kogi Coordinator of NDE, Malam Abubakar Zakari, described training as one of the solutions to prevailing unemployment in the country.

According to him, the era of white-collar job is no longer visible.

“Good enough, entrepreneurship is capable of tackling unemployment, social vices, youth restiveness, prostitution and drug abuse, among others,” he stated.

The Director-General said that the programme was put in place in collaboration with Consultant Nazeemursaj Ltd. to train participants on feasibility report writing and mimic market situation.

“This workshop is part of the federal government’s commitment to continue to bridge the gap of unemployment in the country.

“It’s our belief that the training will afford the participants/beneficiaries the opportunity to have access to loans from the public to improve upon their choice of businesses and livelihood.

“The zeal and priority placed on skills acquisition and development under Buhari’s led-administration will be strongly be sustained,” he said.

Earlier, the Head of Small Scale Enterprises, Mr Amos Ibidun-Abiodun, urged the trainees to see themselves as becoming self-reliant at the end of the training programme.

Responding on behalf of the trainees, Mrs Agnes Lawal, thanked the federal government for the gesture, describing the programme as “very timely” and encouraging.

“We assure you that we will not fail you but justify the privilege given to us at this crucial time.
