Engr. Jennifer Adighije: Empowering Nigeria’s future through innovation and leadership

The media has been agog since the announcement of Engr. Jennifer Adighije as the new CEO of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Adighije, 41, a native of Abia state joins the growing list of young Nigerians holding strategic portfolio in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.

The new NDPHC chief executive officer, is an experienced engineer with competencies across management functions in the private and public sectors.

She holds a Master’s degree in Wireless Networks & Telecommunications from Queen Mary University of London, UK and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

She returned to Nigeria in 2006 to join Globacom as an NSS specialist provisioning INVAS tailored services. She later joined Helios Towers Nig. as Head-Project Management Office, upon which HTN achieved the Sale and Lease-back contract with Airtel Nigeria, the first of its kind in Africa.

In 2012 she quit the private sector to explore entrepreneurship. Until her recent appointment, she was a key player in the Procurement department at the Central bank of Nigeria CBN.

Prior to her appointment as NDPHC CEO, Engr. Jennifer served as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Entrepreneurship Development in Communications Innovation & Digital Economy where she spearheaded the three million technical talent programme (3MTT) aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power the digital economy and most importantly, position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.

Engr. Adighije is saddled with the responsibility of helping the President actualise his vision of creating two million jobs by 2025. The former presidential aide who is serving in the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, under the supervision of Dr. Bosun, the Honourable Minister in charge has teamed up with other stakeholders including the National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA) to execute the task.

According to available information on NITDA’s website, for the phase of the programme, 12 technical skills will be focused on: Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis and visualization, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cyber security, Game Development, Cloud Computing, and Dev Ops.

No doubt, Engr. Adighije is one of the powerful women in President Tinubu’s government. In less than twelve months in office, she has organised a few ground breaking initiatives including the one for women-based small scale business owners and entrepreneurs. She’s currently in the frontline of activities aimed at ensuring the successful execution of the 3MTT programme. An epitome of beauty and brain, Engr. Adighije is proving to be a key player in the actualisation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
