English clubs take control in Europa League semi-finals

Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have taken commanding leads in their respective Europa League semi-final ties, raising the possibility of an all-English final.

Manchester United cruised to a 3–0 win over 10-man Athletic Bilbao in Spain. The visitors went ahead through a Casemiro penalty before Rasmus Højlund was brought down, leading to a second spot-kick after a VAR review.

Dani Vivian was shown a straight red card for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, and Bruno Fernandes stepped up to convert. The Portuguese midfielder added a second later in the match, chipping the ball over the Bilbao goalkeeper with precision.

In North London, Tottenham defeated Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 3–1. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring before James Maddison and Dominic Solanke extended the lead. Ulrik Saltnes pulled one back for the visitors in the 83rd minute, but it was not enough to shift the balance of the tie.
